Soul Binding Ritual
Performing the Ascension Ritual requires spending an item called a Soul Gem which can be acquired by permanently burning heroes in a process called Soul Binding. Note that this process is irreversible, burned heroes are lost forever. Also, Gen-0 are essential to the ecosystem, and therefore cannot be burned in the Soul Biding Ritual.
The obtained Soul Gems are specific to both race and class. For example, a Zaru Warrior Soul Gem can be used for an ascension ritual for any other Zaru Warriors. It cannot be used for another race or class.
Soul Gems are ERC1155 NFT Tokens and can be transferred to other accounts. You can use the Witch in the Inner Temple as a convenient UI for transferring.
The number of Soul Gems acquired from Soul Binding varies depending on class level, rarity, and generation of the participating hero. Higher generations, higher class levels, and higher generations yield more heroes.
Each hero level has a base amount of Soul Gems yielded which is the combined with rarity and generation multipliers to obtain the final yield. The base costs are given in the table below:

For example, Soul Binding a Gen-7 S Level 4 Hero would result in:
1125 * 1.25 * 1.35 = 1898 Soul Gems
The Witch in the inner temple can also exchange Soul Gem of one race/rarity to a Soul Gem of another race/rarity.
The the amount exchange will be the following formula:
The base exchange rate is
- 2:1 (2.0) if race or class for the target Soul Gem matches the original
- 3:1 (3.0) if there is no match
DeFi tokens staked in the locked staking pool (ex. Locked TRANQ) will increase discount. Every 100,000 tokens staked will decreased the exchange rate by 1, up to a minimum of 1.5 for the final exchange rate.
